In the Democratic Republic of Congo, there is a generation that will never meet their father

Growing up in rural North Kivu amidst war, corruption, and mineral-rich land, the odds are stacked against you.   Being born a girl there means growing up among multiple armed groups, all of whom routinely use sexual assault as a military tactic.  With the stigma around being a survivor of sexual violence, many hide it from everyone they know for the rest of their life.  Some birth the child of their rapist nine months later - and raise them alone.
